Environmental stewardship rooted in place

MB Foundation’s environmental pillar reflects the belief that sustainable development must be grounded in local landscapes, local knowledge, and local participation. Environmental stewardship is not only about protecting nature. It is also about helping communities better understand the systems they depend on and encouraging more resilient, responsible ways of living, learning, and working.

Our strategy places particular emphasis on desertification, tree planting, sustainability awareness, solar energy education, and the wider relationship between resource management and community resilience. This creates room for programs that combine awareness with action, especially where schools, communities, public institutions, and local partners can work together. It also creates room for practical storytelling that helps people connect environmental priorities to daily life rather than viewing them as distant policy issues.

This focus area may include community awareness campaigns, school engagement, education about resource use and solar energy, local restoration efforts, and place-based initiatives that connect sustainability with tourism, agriculture, and public participation. The goal is to support a culture of stewardship that is visible, understandable, and relevant to Oman’s environmental realities, while reporting carefully and credibly on what is delivered and what changes over time.
